Reflection
The UX design process was an important part in finding the needs of the users and making the Health Companion App better. By doing a user research, making personas, mapping user journeys, and making wireframes, I was able to create an intuitive and accessible solution for users who are familiar with technologies like Emily Carter and for user who have less familiarity with technology like John Reynolds.
One of the main challenges was finding a balance between simplicity and functionality. While users, who are younger, like interfaces that visually guide them with icons and graphics, older users do not find it appealing since they found it too complicated by having a lot features overwhelming . To consider this, I designed the app so that it is easy to navigate by increasing some the of text size and offered reminder by SMS for senior users.
Another challenge was making sure of the usability of important features, like medication listing, scheduling of doctor appointments, and consultation with doctors. I realized that users could struggle with the onboarding process and some people could be concerned about data privacy. These realizations were a leading factor in the addition of notifications settings, and a clear privacy awareness in the settings to make the user trust and experience better.
By doing an iterative process of designing, testing and re-designing, I was able to create a prototype that respects the user expectations and the real-world health problem that needs to be managed. This process demonstrated that user-centered design and continuous feedback are integral parts so that the app is an effective and user-friendly product.
